Śiśupāla-vākya: Bhīṣma-nindā and the ‘Haṃsa’ Exemplum
The verse teaches Kṛṣṇa’s supremacy as both the origin (utpatti) and the dissolution (apyaya) of all worlds, implying that true dharma includes recognizing the divine ground of existence and orienting one’s life toward that highest reality.
Bhīṣma is speaking in the Sabha Parva context, offering a theological affirmation of Kṛṣṇa’s cosmic status—framing events and moral judgments in the assembly by asserting that the universe itself depends upon and exists for Kṛṣṇa.
