draṣṭakāmāḥ sabhāṃ caiva dharmarājaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram | na kaścid āharat tatra sahasrāvaram arhaṇam ||
Di antara para raja yang datang ingin menyaksikan balairung itu dan Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, tak seorang pun membawa persembahan yang nilainya kurang dari seribu keping emas.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Public honor in a dharmic kingship is expressed through appropriate generosity: the visitors’ minimum offering signifies recognition of Yudhiṣṭhira’s moral authority and the social expectation that respect be shown through worthy gifts.
Kings arrive to see Yudhiṣṭhira and his famed assembly hall; the narration emphasizes the grandeur of the occasion by noting that every visitor brings an honor-gift valued at no less than a thousand (gold coins).
