Śiśupāla’s Protest Against the Arghya to Kṛṣṇa (शिशुपाल-आक्षेपः)
संश्रुत्य धर्मराजस्य यज्ञ यज्ञविदस्तदा | अन्ये च शतशस्तुष्टर्मनोभिर्भरतर्षभ,भरतकुलभूषण! यज्ञवेत्ता धर्मराजका यज्ञ सुनकर अन्य सैकड़ों मनुष्य भी संतुष्ट हृदयसे वहाँ गये
saṁśrutya dharmarājasya yajñaṁ yajñavidās tadā | anye ca śataśas tuṣṭa-manobhir bharatarṣabha ||
Wahai yang terbaik di antara keturunan Bharata! Mendengar kabar tentang yajña Dharmarāja, para ahli upacara dan ratusan orang lainnya pun berangkat saat itu juga dengan hati yang dipenuhi kegembiraan.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A righteous ruler’s public religious act (yajña) functions as an ethical signal: it attracts people through confidence in dharma, orderly conduct, and the expectation of generosity and proper hospitality.
News spreads that Dharmarāja is conducting a yajña. Ritual specialists and many other people, pleased at heart, gather and proceed to the place of the sacrifice.
