मागधगिरिव्रजप्रवेशः — Entry into Girivraja and Jarāsandha’s Protocol Inquiry
दृष्टवा पौरैस्तदा सम्यग् गदा चैव निवेदिता । गदावसानं तत् ख्यातं मथुराया: समीपत:
dṛṣṭvā pauraiḥ tadā samyag gadā caiva niveditā | gadāvasānaṃ tat khyātaṃ mathurāyāḥ samīpataḥ ||
Waiśampāyana berkata: Setelah penduduk kota melihatnya dengan jelas, mereka melaporkan gada itu kepada Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Tempat dekat Mathurā, tempat gada itu berhenti, menjadi termasyhur dengan nama Gadāvasāna, “perhentian gada”.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how public witness and truthful reporting preserve memory and create sacred geography: an event becomes ethically and culturally significant when it is clearly observed, responsibly communicated, and commemorated as a named place.
Citizens see the mace and inform Śrī Kṛṣṇa about it. The location near Mathurā where the mace came to rest becomes known thereafter as Gadāvasāna.
