Description of the Arjuna–Karṇa Engagement and Counsel to Duryodhana
भीमसेन उवाच अपयात इतो राजा धर्मपुत्रो युधिष्ठिर: । कर्णबाणाभिततप्ताड़ो यदि जीवेत् कथठ्चन
bhīmasena uvāca apayāta ito rājā dharmaputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ | karṇabāṇābhitataptāṅgo yadi jīvet kathaṃcana ||
Bhīmasena berkata: “Raja Yudhiṣṭhira, putra Dharma, telah mundur dari sini. Seluruh tubuhnya seakan hangus oleh panah-panah Karṇa; semoga saja, entah bagaimana, ia masih hidup.”
भीमसेन उवाच
Even amid battlefield fury, Bhīma’s words foreground a dharmic concern: the welfare of the rightful king and moral center of the Pāṇḍavas. Leadership is not merely strategic; it carries ethical weight, so the community’s duty includes protecting and sustaining the one who embodies dharma.
Bhīma reports that Yudhiṣṭhira has withdrawn from the immediate combat area after being grievously struck by Karṇa’s arrows. He expresses uncertainty and fear about Yudhiṣṭhira’s survival, emphasizing the severity of the wounds.
