The verse highlights how worldly magnificence (gold-adorned weapons) does not ennoble violence; in war, even precious objects serve harm. It implicitly contrasts external splendor with the ethical cost of conflict.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield scene where combatants hurl various weapons—spears, pikes, and axes—many of them richly decorated with gold, emphasizing the intensity and ferocity of the fighting.
