Karṇa’s Pressure on the Pāñcālas; Duryodhana Disabled; Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
काक काकेति वाशन्तं निमज्जन्तं महार्णवे । कृपया<5<5दाय हंसस्तं जलक्लिन्न सुदुर्दुशम्
kāka kāketi vāśantaṁ nimajjantaṁ mahārṇave | kṛpayā dāya haṁsas taṁ jalaklinnaṁ sudurduśam ||
Gagak itu berteriak, “Kāka! Kāka!” ketika ia mulai tenggelam di samudra yang luas. Melihat makhluk malang itu basah kuyup dan sangat menderita, angsa tergerak oleh belas kasih, menaruh iba, dan datang menolongnya.
काक उवाच
Compassion is a dharmic response to suffering: one should help the distressed when possible, even if the sufferer is insignificant or unlike oneself.
A crow, drowning in the great ocean, cries out in fear; a swan, moved by pity, takes mercy on the drenched and miserable crow and helps it.
