Sātyaki’s Assurance and the Protection of Dharmarāja (सात्यकिवचनम्—धर्मराजरक्षणविचारः)
ततो वादित्रनिर्धोषिर्माड्रल्यैश्व स्तवैः शुभै: । प्रयान्तमर्जुनं वीर॑ मागधाश्वैव तुष्टवु:,तदनन्तर रणवाद्योंके घोष तथा शुभ एवं मांगलिक स्तुतियोंके साथ यात्रा करते हुए वीर अर्जुनकी मागधजन स्तुति करने लगे
tato vāditranirghoṣair mādrīlyaiś ca stavaiḥ śubhaiḥ | prayāntam arjunaṃ vīraṃ māgadhāś caiva tuṣṭuvuḥ ||
Kemudian, ketika bunyi alat-alat perang bergemuruh dan pujian yang suci serta membawa keberuntungan dilantunkan, Arjuna sang pahlawan berangkat. Para bard Māgadha pun memujinya sepanjang ia melaju—sebuah perayaan lahiriah untuk meneguhkan tekad dan mengumandangkan kehormatan di tengah bobot dharma dalam perang.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, actions are framed by social and ethical ideals: auspicious music and formal praise are used to affirm courage, duty, and public accountability. The verse highlights how communal ritual (instruments and eulogies) reinforces a warrior’s resolve while reminding listeners that fame and blame follow deeds.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna is setting out, accompanied by the loud sounds of instruments and auspicious songs. As Arjuna advances, Māgadha bards (professional panegyrists) praise him, publicly proclaiming his valor and encouraging him before or during the battle movement.
