धृष्टद्युम्नस्य द्रोणरथारोহণं सात्यकेः प्रतिरक्षणं च | Dhrishtadyumna Boards Droṇa’s Chariot; Sātyaki’s Counter-Protection
सिंहवन्नदथ प्रीता: शोककाल उपस्थिते । 'रणक्षेत्रमें श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनका अपराध करके तुम्हारे लिये शोकका अवसर उपस्थित है, ऐसे समयमें तुमलोग प्रसन्न होकर सिंहनाद कैसे कर रहे हो?
siṁhavan nadatha prītāḥ śokakāla upasthite | raṇakṣetre śrīkṛṣṇa-arjunayor aparādhaṁ kṛtvā tubhyaṁ śokasyāvasaro 'pahitaḥ; evaṁkāle yūyaṁ prahṛṣṭāḥ siṁhanādaṁ kathaṁ kurutha? ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Saat duka telah tiba, namun kalian bersorak dan mengaum laksana singa. Dengan melakukan pelanggaran terhadap Śrī Kṛṣṇa dan Arjuna di medan perang, kalian sendiri mendatangkan kesempatan untuk meratap; bagaimana pada saat seperti itu kalian masih dapat bersukacita dan mengaum?”
संजय उवाच
Rejoicing at the moment one has incurred moral fault is portrayed as blindness to consequences; arrogance after wrongdoing invites inevitable grief, especially when the wrong is against the righteous and divinely guided.
Sañjaya rebukes the opposing side for celebrating with triumphant shouts even though, by offending Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna in the battle, they have set in motion their own impending sorrow.
