युधिष्ठिरकृष्णसंवादः — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Appeal and Kṛṣṇa’s Assurance
Droṇa-parva, Adhyāya 59
जघान स महाबाहु: पौलस्त्यं सगणं रणे । जो देवताओं और असुरोंके लिये भी अवध्य था, देवताओं और ब्राह्मणोंके लिये कण्टकरूप उस पुलस्त्यवंशी रावणका रणक्षेत्रमें महाबाहु श्रीरामचन्द्रजीने उसके दलबलसहित संहार कर डाला
jaghāna sa mahābāhuḥ paulastyaṃ sagaṇaṃ raṇe | yo devatāsu ca asureṣu ca avadhyaḥ āsīt, devatānāṃ brāhmaṇānāṃ ca kaṇṭakarūpaṃ taṃ pulastyavaṃśyaṃ rāvaṇaṃ raṇakṣetre mahābāhuḥ śrīrāmacandraḥ tasya dalabalasahitaṃ saṃhāraṃ cakāra |
Nārada berkata: Yang berlengan perkasa itu menewaskan Paulastya (Rāvaṇa) beserta para pengikutnya di medan perang. Walau dianggap kebal bahkan bagi para dewa dan asura, ia telah menjadi duri bagi para dewa dan brāhmaṇa; maka di gelanggang pertempuran Śrī Rāmacandra membinasakan Rāvaṇa bersama bala tentaranya.
नारद उवाच
Even when an oppressor appears 'invulnerable' by worldly measures, dharma ultimately requires the removal of those who become a persistent menace to the righteous—especially when they harm the moral and spiritual foundations represented by the gods and brāhmaṇas.
Nārada recounts that Śrī Rāmacandra slew Rāvaṇa—identified as the Paulastya descendant—on the battlefield, destroying him along with his followers and forces, because Rāvaṇa had become a severe threat to gods and brāhmaṇas.
