यत्र युध्यामहे सर्वे धनलो भात् समागता: । हमें धनसे या धन पानेकी इच्छासे क्या प्रयोजन है? जो हम सब लोग यहाँ धनके लोभसे एकत्र होकर जूझ रहे हैं
yatra yudhyāmahe sarve dhanalobhāt samāgatāḥ |
Duryodhana berkata: “Di sini kita semua berperang, berkumpul karena ketamakan akan harta. Apa guna harta, atau hasrat akan harta, bagi kita?”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how greed (dhanalobha) can distort judgment and undermine dharma: when the motive for action is mere acquisition, even a socially sanctioned duty like warfare loses moral grounding and becomes ethically suspect.
Duryodhana reflects on the battle situation, stating that they have all gathered and are fighting driven by desire for wealth—an admission that the conflict is propelled by material craving rather than a higher righteous purpose.
