अति पाण्डवमाचार्यो द्रोणं चाप्पति पाण्डव: । नानयोरन्तरं शक््यं द्रष्टमन्येन केनचित्
ati pāṇḍavam ācāryo droṇaṃ cāppati pāṇḍavaḥ | nānayor antaraṃ śakyaṃ draṣṭum anyena kenacit ||
Sañjaya berkata: Sang Guru, Droṇa, seakan sepenuhnya berpihak pada para Pāṇḍava, dan sang pahlawan Pāṇḍava menekan Droṇa dengan keras. Tak seorang pun dapat melihat celah atau jarak di antara keduanya—begitu rapat dan seimbang mereka berhadapan dalam pertempuran itu.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how, in the crucible of dharma-yuddha, excellence and resolve can make two opponents appear inseparable—so evenly matched that observers cannot detect an opening. Ethically, it underscores the seriousness of duty and skill in battle, where commitment and capability determine the immediacy of engagement.
Sañjaya describes an intense duel: Droṇa is fully engaged, and a Pāṇḍava warrior attacks him at close quarters. Their fight is so tight and continuous that no onlooker can perceive any interval or advantage between them.
