तामवसप्लुत्य जग्राह कर्णो न्यस्य महद् धनु: । चिक्षेप चैनां तस्यैव स्यन्दनात् सो5वपुप्लुवे,कर्णने अपना विशाल धनुष नीचे रख दिया और उछलकर उस अशनिको हाथसे पकड़ लिया; फिर उसे घटोत्कचपर ही चला दिया। घटोत्कच शीघ्र ही उस रथसे कूद पड़ा
tām avasaplutya jagrāha karṇo nyasya mahad dhanuḥ | cikṣepa caināṃ tasyaiva syandanāt so 'vapupluve ||
Karṇa meletakkan busurnya yang besar, melompat turun, dan menangkap aśani itu dengan tangan; lalu ia melemparkannya kembali tepat ke arah Ghaṭotkaca. Ghaṭotkaca pun seketika melompat turun dari keretanya.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya battlefield ethic of decisive action under pressure: Karṇa prioritizes immediate tactical necessity—setting aside even his great bow to seize and deploy a weapon—while Ghaṭotkaca’s instant leap from the chariot reflects alertness and courage amid mortal danger.
Karṇa jumps down, grabs the incoming weapon, puts down his large bow, and hurls the weapon at Ghaṭotkaca. In response, Ghaṭotkaca quickly jumps down from his chariot, indicating rapid movement and close-quarters intensity in the fight.
