Droṇavadha-saṃniveśaḥ — The Convergence Toward Droṇa’s Fall
Book 7, Chapter 164
रथघोषेण महता नादयन् वसुधातलम् । पर्जन्य इव घर्मान्ति नादयन् वै दिशो दश
rathaghoṣeṇa mahatā nādayan vasudhātalam | parjanya iva gharmānte nādayan vai diśo daśa ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Dengan gemuruh kereta yang dahsyat ia membuat permukaan bumi bergaung; laksana awan petir di penghujung musim panas, sungguh ia menggema ke seluruh sepuluh penjuru.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how overwhelming martial power and display can shake the world around it; ethically, it serves as a reminder that war’s force is not merely physical but also psychological, spreading fear and awe across all quarters.
Sañjaya describes a warrior’s advance or maneuver in battle: the thunderous rumble of chariots makes the earth and all directions reverberate, compared to monsoon-like thunder at the end of summer.
