सौभद्रो5प्यशनिप्रख्यां प्रगृह्ा महतीं गदाम् । एह्टोहीत्यब्रवीच्छल्यं यत्नाद् भीमेन वारित:
Saubhadro 'py aśaniprakhyāṁ pragṛhya mahatīṁ gadām | eho hīty abravīc chalyaṁ yatnād bhīmena vāritaḥ ||
Abhimanyu, putra Subhadrā, turut maju sambil mengangkat gada besar laksana halilintar. Sambil berseru, “Mari! Mari!”, ia menantang Śalya; namun Bhīmasena dengan susah payah menahannya.
संजय उवाच
Heroism in dharmic warfare is not mere aggression; it must be governed by restraint and proper order. Bhīma’s preventing Abhimanyu highlights that even righteous courage should submit to discipline, strategy, and the ethics of engagement.
Abhimanyu advances with a huge mace, taunts and challenges Śalya to fight, but Bhīma forcibly holds him back, preventing an immediate clash.
