स तथा शरवर्षाभ्यां सुमहद्भ्यां महाभुज: । पीड्यमान: परामार्तिमगमद् रथिनां वर:,इस प्रकार दो दिशाओंसे होनेवाली उस भारी बाणवर्षसे पीड़ित हो रथियोंमें श्रेष्ठ महाबाहु अर्जुन अत्यन्त व्यथित हो उठे
sa tathā śaravarṣābhyāṃ sumahadbhyāṃ mahābhujaḥ | pīḍyamānaḥ parāmārtim agamad rathināṃ varaḥ ||
Demikianlah, dihantam hujan anak panah yang dahsyat dari dua arah, Arjuna yang berlengan perkasa—terunggul di antara para kesatria kereta—terdesak hebat dan jatuh ke dalam kesesakan yang amat.
संजय उवाच
Even the foremost warrior can be shaken when violence becomes overwhelming; the epic highlights the human cost of war and the inner strain that accompanies kṣatriya-duty, reminding readers that prowess does not erase vulnerability.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna is struck by an immense, two-sided barrage of arrows; under this pressure he becomes severely afflicted, indicating a moment of tactical and psychological crisis amid the battle.
