द्विरदाविव संक़ुद्धौ वासितार्थे मदोत्कटौ । वे दोनों महाधनुर्धर और पराक्रमी वीर उस रणक्षेत्रमें एक-दूसरेसे स्पर्धा रखते हुए हथिनीके लिये अत्यन्त कुपित होकर परस्पर युद्ध करनेवाले दो मदोन्मत्त हाथियोंकी तरह एक-दूसरेसे भिड़ गये

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | dviradāv iva saṅkuddhau vāsitārthe madotkaṭau |

Translation

Sañjaya berkata: Seperti dua gajah yang murka, mabuk oleh dorongan tujuan yang sama-sama didambakan, kedua pemanah agung itu—perkasa dan saling berlomba mengungguli—bertemu di medan perang dan saling menghantam. Benturan mereka bagai gajah-gajah yang mengamuk, membuat pertempuran kian garang.
