Sātyaki-praveśaḥ and Duryodhana-saṃnipātaḥ
Sātyaki’s passage and Duryodhana’s mass engagement

The verse highlights how extraordinary martial prowess can captivate observers, yet it also implicitly points to the ethical tension of war: skill and spectacle do not erase the gravity of violence; they intensify the responsibility borne by heroic fighters.
Sañjaya reports that spectators are amazed as two great warriors engage—advancing and withdrawing with tactical variety, exchanging attacks, and repeatedly neutralizing each other’s missiles through counter-weapons and defensive maneuvers.
