स भीम॑ शरधाराभिस्ताडयामास पार्थिव: | पर्वतं वारिधाराभिस्तपान्ते जलदो यथा,जैसे वर्षा-ऋतुमें बादल पर्वतके शिखरपर जलकी धारा गिराता है, उसी प्रकार राजा भगदत्त भीमसेनपर बाणोंकी वर्षा करते हुए उन्हें पीड़ित करने लगे
sa bhīmaṁ śaradhārābhis tāḍayāmāsa pārthivaḥ | parvataṁ vāridhārābhis tapānte jalado yathā ||
Sañjaya berkata: Sang raja (Bhagadatta) menghantam Bhīma dengan aliran anak panah yang tiada putus—seperti awan di akhir musim panas menumpahkan curahan air ke puncak gunung; demikianlah hujan panah itu menyiksa Bhīmasena.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the battlefield ethic of steadfast endurance under overwhelming pressure: a warrior’s resolve is measured not only by striking power but by the capacity to remain unshaken when assailed relentlessly.
Sañjaya describes Bhagadatta repeatedly striking Bhīma with dense volleys of arrows, comparing the arrow-storm to a rain-cloud pouring torrents on a mountain at summer’s end.
