भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal
न्यवेदयत चात्मानमर्जुनस्य महात्मन: । इरावानस्मि भद्रं ते पुत्रश्चाहं तव प्रभो
nyavedayat cātmānam arjunasya mahātmanaḥ | irāvān asmi bhadraṃ te putraś cāhaṃ tava prabho ||
Lalu ia memperkenalkan dirinya kepada Arjuna yang berhati luhur, katanya dengan hormat: “Tuanku, semoga sejahtera baginda. Aku Irāvān, dan aku putramu.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct through truthful self-identification and respectful address: even in wartime, one should uphold humility, propriety, and recognition of familial bonds.
Irāvān approaches Arjuna and formally introduces himself as Arjuna’s son, offering a blessing (“bhadraṃ te”) and addressing him with reverence (“prabho”).
