भीष्मवधाय प्रयाणम् — The Advance toward Bhīṣma and Counter-Engagements
ततो गाण्डीवनिर्घोष: प्रादुरासीद् विशाम्पते | दक्षिणेन वरूथिन्या: पार्थस्यारीन् विनिघ्नत:,प्रजानाथ! तदनन्तर शत्रुओंका संहार करते हुए अर्जुनके गाण्डीवधनुषका घोष सेनाके दक्षिणभागसे प्रकट हुआ
tato gāṇḍīvanirghoṣaḥ prādurāsīd viśāmpate | dakṣiṇena varūthinyāḥ pārthasyārīn vini-ghnataḥ ||
Sañjaya berkata: “Lalu, wahai tuan rakyat, dentuman dahsyat busur Gāṇḍīva milik Arjuna terdengar dari sayap kanan pasukan, ketika Pārtha menumbangkan musuh-musuhnya.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast execution of one’s duty in a just cause: Arjuna’s decisive action is marked by the unmistakable ‘voice’ of his bow, suggesting disciplined valor and moral resolve rather than mere violence.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the roar of Arjuna’s Gāṇḍīva is heard from the army’s right flank, indicating that Arjuna is actively cutting down enemy forces there and shifting the battle’s balance.
