Five Elements, Sensory Qualities, and a Cosmographic Island
हेमकूटस्तु सुमहान् कैलासो नाम पर्वत: । यत्र वैश्रवणो राजन् गुहाकैः सह मोदते,राजन! विशाल पर्वत हेमकूट ही कैलास नामसे प्रसिद्ध है। जहाँ कुबेर गुह्कोंके साथ सानन्द निवास करते हैं
Hemakūṭas tu sumahān kailāso nāma parvataḥ | yatra vaiśravaṇo rājan guhākaiḥ saha modate ||
Wahai Raja! Ada sebuah gunung yang amat besar bernama Hemakūṭa, yang masyhur pula sebagai Kailāsa; di sanalah Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera) bersemayam dengan gembira bersama para Guhyaka.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights reverence for sacred places and divine order: certain realms are portrayed as seats of dharmic prosperity and guardianship, embodied by Kubera’s joyful residence with his attendants.
Sañjaya describes a great mountain—Kailāsa/Hemakūṭa—and notes that Kubera (Vaiśravaṇa) resides there happily with the Guhyakas, as part of a broader descriptive passage.
