प्रपतन्तमपश्याम गिरे: शुद्भमिव च्युतम् भीष्मके द्वारा मारे गये नरश्रेष्ठ श्वेतको युद्धस्थलमें हमने देखा। वह टूटकर गिरे हुए पर्वतके समान जान पड़ता था
prapatantam apaśyāma gireḥ śubhram iva cyutam | bhīṣmake dvārā māre gaye naraśreṣṭha śvetako yuddhasthale meṃ hamne dekhā | vaha ṭūṭakara gire hue parvatake samān jān paṛtā thā |
Kami melihat Śveta, yang utama di antara manusia, gugur di medan perang oleh tangan Bhisma. Ia tampak bagaikan puncak gunung yang putih cemerlang, patah lalu runtuh ke bumi.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the sobering ethic of war: even the most excellent warriors fall, and the narrator’s witness highlights impermanence and the heavy consequences that accompany kṣatriya duty and martial prowess.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Śveta, a prominent warrior, has been slain by Bhīṣma and is seen collapsing on the battlefield, compared to a bright piece of a mountain breaking off and falling.
