Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the sobering ethic of war: even the most excellent warriors fall, and the narrator’s witness highlights impermanence and the heavy consequences that accompany kṣatriya duty and martial prowess.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Śveta, a prominent warrior, has been slain by Bhīṣma and is seen collapsing on the battlefield, compared to a bright piece of a mountain breaking off and falling.
