Evening Withdrawal after Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
अभिमन्यु: सुसंक्रुद्ध: पिशज्ैस्तुरगोत्तमै: । संयुक्त रथमास्थाय प्रायाद् भीष्मरथं प्रति,यह देख अभिमन्यु अत्यन्त कुपित हो पिंगलवर्णके श्रेष्ठ घोड़ोंसे जुते हुए रथपर बैठकर भीष्मके रथकी ओर दौड़े आये। उनका वह रथ कर्णिकारके चिह्नसे युक्त स्वर्णनिर्मित विचित्र ध्वजसे सुशोभित था। उन्होंने भीष्मपर तथा उनकी रक्षाके लिये आये हुए उन श्रेष्ठ रथियोंपर भी आक्रमण किया
sañjaya uvāca | abhimanyuḥ susaṁkruddhaḥ piśaṅgaiḥ turagottamaiḥ saṁyuktaṁ ratham āsthāya prāyād bhīṣma-rathaṁ prati |
Sañjaya berkata: Melihat itu, Abhimanyu menyala oleh amarah. Ia menaiki kereta yang ditarik kuda-kuda terbaik berwarna keemasan-tua dan melesat lurus menuju kereta Bhīṣma. Panji emasnya yang indah, berukir lambang pohon karṇikāra, membuat keretanya tampak mencolok. Dalam gelora perang ia menyerang bukan hanya Bhīṣma, melainkan juga para kesatria kereta terkemuka yang datang melindunginya.
