Measurements and Description of Śākadvīpa

विहरन्ते रमन्ते च न तेषु म्रियते जन: । न तेषु दस्यव: सन्ति म्लेच्छजात्योडपि वा नूप

viharanti ramante ca na teṣu mriyate janaḥ | na teṣu dasyavaḥ santi mlecchajātyo 'pi vā nṛpa ||

Sañjaya berkata: “Di sana makhluk-makhluk mengembara dan bersukaria; di antara mereka tak seorang pun mati. Wahai raja, di wilayah-wilayah itu tidak ada perampok, bahkan orang-orang dari golongan asing (mleccha) pun tidak ada.”

Educational Q&A

The verse idealizes a perfectly ordered realm: freedom to enjoy life without fear, where death and social predation (robbery/violence) are absent—an implicit contrast to the insecurity and mortality of the human world and the battlefield context of the parva.
