तस्मिन्नयुतशो राजन भूयशश्व परंतप: । भीष्म: शान्तनवो योधाञ्जघान परमास्त्रवित्,राजन! उत्तम अस्त्रोंके ज्ञाता तथा शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मने उस युद्धमें कई अयुत योद्धाओंका संहार कर डाला
tasminn ayutaśo rājan bhūyaś ca parantapaḥ | bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavo yodhān jaghāna paramāstravit ||
Wahai Raja, dalam pertempuran itu Bhisma putra Santanu—penyiksa musuh dan mahatahu senjata-senjata surgawi—berulang kali menewaskan para kesatria hingga puluhan ribu jumlahnya.
