Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma
आरुरोह रथं तूर्ण दुर्मुखस्य विशाम्पते । प्रजानाथ! घोड़ोंके मारे जानेपर महारथी चित्रसेन तुरंत ही रथसे कूद पड़े और दुर्मुखके रथपर आरूढ़ हो गये
āruroha rathaṃ tūrṇaṃ durmukhasya viśāmpate |
Sañjaya berkata: “Wahai penguasa rakyat! Ketika kuda-kudanya telah terbunuh, maharathi Citraseṇa segera melompat turun dari keretanya sendiri dan seketika menaiki kereta Durmukha.”
संजय उवाच
In the midst of war, presence of mind and swift, practical action are essential to uphold one’s role and responsibility; maintaining readiness and continuity in duty is portrayed as a key martial virtue.
After his horses are killed and his chariot becomes unusable, Citraseṇa immediately jumps down and climbs onto Durmukha’s chariot, ensuring he can continue fighting without delay.
