वैशम्पायन उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement; its function is to mark closure and to identify the chapter’s topic—initiating the procurement of ritual materials—thereby framing the ethical and ritual seriousness of orderly preparation.
The narrator’s colophon announces that the sixty-third chapter has concluded and names its theme as the beginning of bringing the necessary materials, situating the reader within the Anugītā portion of the Aśvamedhika Parva.
