यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं
yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |
Vaiśaṃpāyana berkata: “Pada saat itu, brāhmaṇa yang unggul itu telah mengikat kedua anting itu pada selembar kulit rusa. Pandangannya hanya tertuju pada sulur-sulur; ia tidak memperhatikan ke mana sulur yang tertebas jatuh. Maka hampir semua sulur yang dipotongnya jatuh tepat di atas kulit rusa tempat kedua anting itu terikat.”
