Vidura’s Message to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: Authorization for Dāna and Public Welfare (विदुरवाक्यम्—दानानुज्ञा)
त्वं चापि राजशार्दूल तपसो*न््ते श्रिया वृतः । गान्धारीसहितो गन्ता गति तेषां महात्मनाम्,नृपश्रेष्ठ॒ तुम भी तपस्याके अन्तमें तेजसे सम्पन्न हो गान्धारीके साथ उन्हीं महात्माओंकी गति प्राप्त करोगे
tvaṁ cāpi rājaśārdūla tapaso 'nte śriyā vṛtaḥ | gāndhārī-sahito gantā gati teṣāṁ mahātmanām ||
Nārada berkata: “Engkau pun, wahai harimau di antara para raja, pada akhir tapamu akan diselubungi kemuliaan dan cahaya ilahi. Bersama Gāndhārī, engkau akan mencapai keadaan yang sama seperti para mahatma itu.”
नारद उवाच
Completion of sincere austerity and renunciant discipline leads to an elevated spiritual destiny; even a king burdened by past attachments can, through tapas and right resolve, attain the same higher state as other great-souled ascetics.
Nārada addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra, assuring him that at the culmination of his forest austerities he will be endowed with auspicious radiance and, together with Gāndhārī, will attain the same final destination as the other noble elders who have undertaken the ascetic path.
