Merit of Ponds and Tree-Planting
मध्यल्ि वै निमेषार्ध तिष्ठसि त्वं दिवाकर । तत्र भेत्स्यामि सूर्य त्वां न मे5त्रास्ति विचारणा
madhyale vai nimeṣārdhaṁ tiṣṭhasi tvaṁ divākara | tatra bhetsyāmi sūrya tvāṁ na me 'trāsti vicāraṇā ||
Bhishma berkata: “Wahai Sang Divakara, di tengah lintasanmu pada tengah hari engkau berhenti hanya setengah kedipan. Tepat di titik itu, wahai Surya, akan kutembus engkau—di sini tak ada keraguan bagiku.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights unwavering resolve (dṛḍha-niścaya): once a righteous aim is fixed, one should act without wavering, hesitation, or fear—even when the task appears impossible.
Bhīṣma addresses the Sun directly, declaring that at the precise instant the Sun is at a certain midpoint he will pierce it, emphasizing his extraordinary determination and the intensity of his vow-like intent.
