Praise of cow-gift and ghee-centered recitation
द्विजातिमतिसत्कृत्य श्वः कालमभिवेद्य च | गोदानार्थे प्रयुजुजीत रोहिणी नियतव्रतः
bhbma uvbca |
dvijbtim atisatktya bva kblam abhivedya ca |
godbnrthe prayujujta rohi niyatavrata ||
Bhishma berkata: Seseorang yang hendak melakukan go-dāna hendaknya menjalankan laku tapa yang tertib. Ia memanggil seorang Brahmana (dua-kali-lahir), memuliakannya, lalu memberitahukan waktunya: “Besok pagi aku akan mendanakan seekor sapi kepadamu.” Setelah itu, untuk keperluan go-dāna, ia menyiapkan sapi Rohiṇī yang kemerah-merahan, menyapanya dengan kata-kata yang ditetapkan, masuk ke tengah kawanan, dan melafalkan mantra Śruti yang telah ditunjukkan.
