Cavana’s Tests of Kuśika and the Queen (अध्याय ५३: च्यवन–कुशिक-परिक्षा)
जालं॑ ते योजयामासुर्नि:शेषेण जनाधिप । मत्स्योदक॑ समासाद्य तदा भरतसत्तम,भरतवंशशिरोमणि नरेश! उस समय जहाँ मछलियाँ रहती थीं, उतने गहरे जलमें जाकर उन्होंने अपने जालको पूर्णरूपसे फैला दिया
jālaṃ te yojayāmāsur niḥśeṣeṇa janādhipa | matsyodakaṃ samāsādya tadā bharatasattama ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Wahai penguasa rakyat, kemudian mereka membentangkan jala itu sepenuhnya. Setelah mencapai perairan dalam tempat ikan-ikan berada—wahai terbaik di antara keturunan Bharata—mereka melemparkannya dengan sempurna.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights thoroughness and deliberate action: when undertaking a task, one should go to the proper place and execute it fully—an implicit lesson in disciplined effort and effective means.
Bhishma describes people going into deep waters where fish dwell and spreading their fishing net completely, setting up the next development in the episode he is narrating to the king.
