(दाक्षिणात्य अधिक पाठके २ श्लोक मिलाकर कुल ६२ श्लोक हैं) ऑपन-मराज बछ। अि्--छऋायज एकचत्वारिशो<5 ध्याय: विपुलका देवराज इन्द्रसे गुरुपत्नीको बचाना और गुरुसे वरदान प्राप्त करना भीष्म उवाच ततः कदाचित देवेन्द्रो दिव्यरूपवपुर्धर: । इदमन्तरमित्येवमभ्यगात् तमथाश्रमम्
bhīṣma uvāca | tataḥ kadācit devendro divya-rūpa-vapur-dharaḥ | idam antaram ity evam abhyagāt tam athāśramam ||
Bhishma berkata, “Kemudian, pada suatu waktu, Devendra Indra—mengenakan wujud dan raga yang bercahaya ilahi—berpikir, ‘Inilah saat yang tepat,’ lalu datang ke pertapaan itu.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse sets up an ethical test: even divine power can act from desire and calculation, so dharma must be evaluated by intention and conduct, not by status. It frames the hermitage as a space where restraint and moral clarity are expected, making any intrusion morally significant.
Bhishma narrates that Indra, taking on a splendid divine appearance, decides that the moment is favorable and approaches the hermitage, initiating the next episode involving a moral challenge connected with the ashrama setting.
