ब्राह्मणपूजा-राजधर्मः | Royal Duty of Honoring Learned Brahmins
प्रमद्वरायां तु रुरो: पुत्र: समुदपद्यत । शुनको नाम विदप्रर्षियस्य पुत्रो5थ शौनक:,रुससे प्रमद्वराके गर्भसे ब्रह्मर्षि शुनकका जन्म हुआ, जिनके पुत्र शौनक मुनि हैं
pramadvarāyāṁ tu ruroḥ putraḥ samudapadyata | śunako nāma vidarṣer asya putro 'tha śaunakaḥ ||
Dari Pramadvarā, Ruru memperanakkan seorang putra bernama Śunaka, seorang brahmarṣi; dan dari resi Śunaka itu lahirlah Śaunaka.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic importance of lineage: through righteous household life and lawful union, worthy progeny arise, and the continuity of Vedic-ṛṣi tradition is maintained by successive generations.
Bhīṣma is recounting a genealogical sequence: Ruru and Pramadvarā have a son named Śunaka, and from Śunaka comes Śaunaka, situating Śaunaka within an honored ancestral line of sages.
