Marks of a Worthy Recipient and Stable Criteria of Dharma
काम्यया पृष्टवांस्त्वं मां ततो व्याह्मतमुत्तमम् । अनतिक्रमणीया सा कृत्स्नौलेकैस्त्रिभि: सदा
Bhīṣma uvāca: kāmyayā pṛṣṭavāṁs tvaṁ māṁ tato vyākhyātam uttamam | anatikramaṇīyā sā kṛtsnair lokais tribhiḥ sadā ||
Karena engkau bertanya kepadaku dengan hasrat untuk mengetahui, maka telah kujelaskan perkara itu dengan baik dan sepenuhnya. Titah seorang brahmana senantiasa tak boleh dilanggar—bahkan oleh seluruh makhluk di tiga dunia.
भीष्म उवाच
A rightful injunction—especially one grounded in dharma and associated with brahminical authority—is to be treated as inviolable; it should not be transgressed, regardless of status, even in the scope of the three worlds.
Bhishma responds to a question posed with sincere curiosity, stating that he has explained the matter thoroughly and emphasizing the binding force of the instruction he has just given.
