Aṣṭāvakra’s Visit to Kubera: Hospitality, Temptation, and the Ethics of Restraint (अष्टावक्र-वैश्रवणोपाख्यानम्)
trailokyasyādhipatyaṃ vā tuṣṭo rudraḥ prayacchati |
Vāyu berkata: “Bila Rudra berkenan, ia dapat menganugerahkan bahkan kedaulatan atas tiga dunia. Jika Bhagavān Rudra puas, ia sanggup memberi kedudukan Brahmā, kedudukan Viṣṇu, kedudukan Indra beserta para dewa, ataupun pemerintahan atas triloka.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse teaches the extraordinary potency of Rudra’s favor: when Śiva is truly pleased, he can grant even the highest form of worldly/cosmic authority. Implicitly, it elevates devotion aligned with dharma as a means to attain (or transcend) great power.
Vāyu is speaking and highlighting Rudra’s capacity to bestow supreme dominion—specifically, lordship over the three worlds—thereby emphasizing Rudra’s greatness and the efficacy of pleasing him through proper devotion and conduct.
