gataḥ sa parama-lokaṁ tava putro na saṁśayaḥ | bhadre dhairyaṁ dhāraṇaṁ kuru | śubha-darśane śokaṁ na kuru |
Waiśampāyana berkata: “Putramu sungguh telah pergi ke alam tertinggi—tiada keraguan akan hal itu. Wahai wanita mulia, teguhkan keberanianmu; wahai yang berwajah elok, jangan bersedih. Bhīṣma, putramu, telah mencapai alam yang amat luhur.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches composure in bereavement: grief should be restrained through dhairya (steadfast courage), especially when the departed has attained a noble or supreme state due to righteous life and merit.
Vaiśaṃpāyana consoles a grieving mother, affirming that her son—identified here as Bhīṣma—has certainly reached the highest, excellent realm, and urges her to hold courage and abandon sorrow.
