सदा द्विजातीन् सम्पूज्य कि फलं तत्र मानद । एतद् ब्रूहि स्फुटं सर्व सुमहान् संशयोत्र मे
sadā dvijātīn sampūjya ki phalaṁ tatra mānada | etad brūhi sphuṭaṁ sarva sumahān saṁśayo 'tra me ||
Vāyu berkata: “Wahai pemberi kehormatan, buah apakah yang diperoleh dengan senantiasa memuja dan menghormati para dwija dengan takzim? Katakanlah semuanya dengan jelas dan lengkap, sebab keraguan yang sangat besar telah timbul dalam benakku.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames a dharma-inquiry: it asks what spiritual/ethical merit (phala) arises from consistently honoring the dvija (twice-born), emphasizing that respect and proper reverence toward learned and ritually initiated persons is treated as a significant duty whose results should be understood clearly.
Vāyu, speaking to a respected interlocutor addressed as “mānada,” expresses a strong doubt and requests a clear, complete explanation of the benefit obtained by continually honoring the twice-born.
