आहिताग्निरधीयानो जुहद्दान: संयतेन्द्रिय: । विघसाशी यताहारो गृहस्थ: सत्यवाक्‌ शुचि:

āhitāgnir adhīyāno juhad-dānaḥ saṃyatendriyaḥ | vighasāśī yatāhāro gṛhasthaḥ satyavāk śuciḥ ||

Seorang perumah tangga hendaknya menegakkan api suci dan memelihara Agnihotra; tekun dalam svādhyāya; rajin mempersembahkan homa dan bersedekah; menaklukkan indria; makan hanya sisa setelah persembahan dan jamuan; menahan diri dalam santapan; berkata benar; serta hidup dalam kesucian.
