Educational Q&A

The verse reinforces the Mahābhārata’s ethical motif that righteous conduct bears tangible fruits: merit culminates in exalted states of being, symbolized here by a splendid, harmonious Brahmaloka endowed with beauty, abundance, and stability.

In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and its results. Here he describes a celestial realm—Brahmaloka—using vivid imagery (birds, calls, grand dwellings, prosperity) to convey the attractiveness and dignity of the reward associated with high merit and right living.
