देवैर्विष्णोः शरणागमनम्—शिवलिङ्गस्थापनं, शिवसहस्रनामस्तवः, सुदर्शनचक्रप्रदानं च
तान् समीक्ष्याथ भगवान् देवदेवेश्वरो हरिः प्रणिपत्य स्थितान्देवान् इदं वचनमब्रवीत्
tān samīkṣyātha bhagavān devadeveśvaro hariḥ praṇipatya sthitāndevān idaṃ vacanamabravīt
Melihat mereka, Bhagavān Hari, Penguasa para dewa, terlebih dahulu bersujud hormat kepada para dewa yang berdiri di sana, lalu mengucapkan kata-kata ini.

It establishes the mood of reverence and surrender—an essential prerequisite for Linga-puja—showing that even divine rulers approach sacred counsel with pranipata (humble bowing), which mirrors the devotee’s approach to the Linga as Pati (the Lord).
Though Hari is named here, the Linga Purana’s Shaiva framing uses such scenes to highlight that true authority culminates in devotion and alignment with Pati-tattva (the Supreme Lord), a theological setup that often leads into affirmations of Shiva’s supremacy or Shiva–Vishnu non-duality.
Praṇipāta (bowing/prostration) is emphasized—an outer act that corresponds to inner submission in Pashupata discipline, loosening pasha (bondage) through humility and receptivity to divine instruction.
