Paramparā (Transmission), Rudra’s Viṣṇu-Dhyāna, and the Garuḍa Purāṇa’s Origin-Impulse
Concept: Vidyā (sacred knowledge/mantra) as transformative power when properly received and applied; śravaṇa leading to siddhi.
Vedantic Theme: Śabda-śakti and guru-paramparā: potency arises through authorized hearing and assimilation, not mere technique.
Application: Treat mantra/vidyā as disciplined practice: receive from a competent source, maintain purity and focus, and apply for protection/healing rather than display.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.2.59 (details of Garuḍī vidyā and japa)
This verse highlights Gāruḍa teaching/mantra as exceptionally potent—so effective that Kaśyapa, upon hearing it, could revive even a burnt tree, indicating transformative spiritual power.
Indirectly: by emphasizing mantra-śakti and sacred knowledge, it supports the Garuda Purana’s broader theme that subtle forces (mantras, rites, dharma) can influence life, death, and post-death conditions.
Treat sacred teachings with seriousness: disciplined learning, ethical conduct, and proper practice of prayers/mantras (under guidance) are presented as capable of bringing profound inner renewal.
