योगस्वरूपं खाण्डिक्य श्रूयतां गदतो मम यत्र स्थितो न च्यवते प्राप्य ब्रह्मलयं मुनिः
yogasvarūpaṃ khāṇḍikya śrūyatāṃ gadato mama yatra sthito na cyavate prāpya brahmalayaṃ muniḥ
हे खाण्डिक्य, मेरे वचन से योग का स्वरूप सुनो—जिस अवस्था में स्थित होकर मुनि ब्रह्म-लय को प्राप्त कर फिर कभी विचलित नहीं होता।
Sage Parāśara
Concept: Yoga is that steady establishment in which the muni, having attained brahma-laya, does not fall away from realization.
Vedantic Theme: Moksha
Application: Cultivate steadiness through daily meditation and ethical restraint so insight becomes stable rather than episodic.
Vishishtadvaita: Brahman-realization is presented as a stable state; in a Vaiṣṇava reading, this steadiness is secured by the Supreme’s sustaining grace rather than mere individual effort.
Vishnu Form: Para-Brahman
Bhakti Type: shanta
It denotes the yogin’s final absorption into the highest reality, described here as a state where one becomes firmly established and does not fall away.
He frames Yoga as a definitive inner state (svarūpa) that grants unwavering stability—once attained, the sage remains steady and reaches brahma-laya.
In the Vishnu Purana’s Vaishnava theology, the highest reality spoken of as Brahman is ultimately grounded in the Supreme; this verse presents Yoga as the means to that supreme, liberating absorption.
