स गृहीत्वा धनुर्घोरं शरमेकं च मानदः।सालमुद्दिश्य चिक्षेप ज्यास्वनैः पूरयन्दिशः। 4.12.2।।
sa gṛhītvā dhanur ghoraṃ śaram ekaṃ ca mānadaḥ | sālam uddiśya cikṣepa jyāsvanaiḥ pūrayan diśaḥ || 4.12.2 ||
शत्रुओं के मान का मर्दन करने वाले श्रीराम ने भयानक धनुष उठाकर एक ही बाण लिया। शाल-वृक्ष को लक्ष्य करके उन्होंने उसे छोड़ा; और धनुष की टंकार से दिशाएँ भर उठीं॥
