क्षतजार्द्रसवर्णाभा सन्ध्याकालं विना बभौ।खरस्याभिमुखा नेदुस्तदा घोरमृगाः खगाः।।।।कङ्कगोमायुगृध्राश्च चुक्रुशुर्भयशंसिनः।
kṣatajārdrasa-varṇābhā sandhyākālaṃ vinā babhau | kharasyābhimukhā nedus tadā ghora-mṛgāḥ khagāḥ || kaṅka-gomāyu-gṛdhrāś ca cukruśur bhayaśaṃsinaḥ |
संध्या-काल से पहले ही ताज़े, गीले घाव के रंग-सी एक धूसर संध्या छा गई। तब खरा की ओर मुख किए भयानक पशु-पक्षी चिल्लाने लगे; कंक-पक्षी, सियार और गिद्ध भय व अनिष्ट का संकेत देते हुए करुण स्वर में चीख उठे॥
