Puruṣottama-māhātmya
The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
kṣīrodavāsinaṃ devaṃ śeṣabhogoruśāyinam | varaṃ vareṇyaṃ varadaṃ kartāraṃ hyakṣayaṃ prabhum || 73 ||
Narada (traditional Narada Purana dialogue frame; praise of Vishnu within Uttara-Bhaga narration)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It concentrates devotion on Viṣṇu as the imperishable sovereign (akṣaya prabhu), portraying Him as the cosmic refuge (Kṣīroda-śāyī) and the boon-giver—thereby framing worship as a direct means to protection and liberation.
By listing Viṣṇu’s epithets—dweller in Kṣīroda, reclining on Śeṣa, most worthy, giver of boons—the verse models stuti (praise) as bhakti-sādhana: remembrance of divine forms and qualities that steadies faith and surrender.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is liturgical: using structured epithets (nāma-guṇa stuti) as a recitation pattern for pūjā and japa within Narada Purana rituals.
