Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma
मुक्त्वैकं ब्राह्मणं लोके नोक्तं शूद्रविशोरपि । दानं हि पालनं युद्धं तृतीयं भूभुजां स्मृतम् ॥ २ ॥
muktvaikaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ loke noktaṃ śūdraviśorapi | dānaṃ hi pālanaṃ yuddhaṃ tṛtīyaṃ bhūbhujāṃ smṛtam || 2 ||
इस लोक में ब्राह्मण को छोड़कर शूद्र और वैश्य के लिए (विशेष) कर्तव्य नहीं कहा गया। परन्तु राजाओं के लिए दान, पालन (प्रजा-रक्षा) और युद्ध—ये तीन कर्तव्य स्मरण किए गए हैं।
