उत्पतन्त्यास् तदाकारा आलोकनकुतूहलात् सृष्ट्यर्थं यत् कृतं तेन तपः परमदारुणम् //

Transliteration

utpatantyās tadākārā ālokanakutūhalāt sṛṣṭyarthaṃ yat kṛtaṃ tena tapaḥ paramadāruṇam //

Translation

जब वह प्रकट हो रही थी और उसी रूप को धारण कर रही थी, अपने ही प्राकट्य को देखने की जिज्ञासा से उसने सृष्टि-कार्य के हेतु अत्यन्त कठोर तप किया।
