Kīcaka-vadha-pratisaṃjñā: Rumor in Matsya and the Kaurava Scouts’ Report (कीचकवध-प्रतिसंज्ञा)
tām abravīd rājaputrī virāṭavacanād idam | sairandhri gamyatāṃ śīghra yatra kāmayase gatim ||
The verse highlights how power and social norms can determine the fate of a dependent person: a royal command is conveyed through the princess, urging the maid to leave immediately. It invites reflection on dharma in governance—whether authority is used with protection and fairness, especially toward the vulnerable.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that, following King Virāṭa’s instruction, his daughter tells the woman known as Sairandhrī to depart quickly and go wherever she wishes—indicating a dismissal or expulsion from the palace setting.
